Daniel Patton Snyder Daniel Patton Snyder, 54, died Jan. 7, 2012, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita, Kan. He was born Aug. 22, 1957, in Lyons, son of Dale H. and Marilyn Pat- ton Snyder. A lifetime resident of Lyons, he was President of The Lyons State Bank and a 1975 graduate of Lyons High School. He at- tended Hutchinson Community College and Emporia State University and Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wis - consin at Madison. Memberships included: First United Methodist Church of Lyons, Board member of the Rice County District Hospi- tal #1, Director of The Lyons State Bank and Chairman of the Board, past President and former board member of Kansas Agriculture Ru- ral Leadership (KARL), former boardmember of Kansas Bankers Association, past President and Ambassador of Lyons Chamber of Commerce, and Liars Fishing Club. He married Karen Shellenberger March 14, 1987, in Lyons. Survivors include: wife, Karen of the home; two daughters, Jadyn and Julianne of the home; father and step mother, Dale and Barbara Snyder of Hutchinson; brother, David and Terrie Snyder of Cottonwood, Ariz.; two sisters, Melinda and Glenn Chambers of Hutchinson and Susan Crosby of Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Snyder; grandparents, H. H. and Edna Snyder, Dwight and Hazel Patton. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. Reverend Dr. Quentin Bennett will be officiating. Private family burial in the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Gaines Franklin Delano Gaines, of Hamilton, died on Sunday, De- cember 25, 2011 at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 77. While still very young, he deter- mined that higher education would be his route to business success. After graduating fromEureka High School, Frank continued his educa- tion via the financial aid he earned through football and academic scholarships. An Associate’s degree from Butler County Junior College led him on to graduate fromWash- burn University, and later to getting his law degree at Washburn and passing the Kansas Bar Exam. His first business success was as a young attorney who practiced law in Augusta. Frank served in the Kansas Legislature as a Representative for six years and a State Senator for twenty years. His many long and varied ca- reers included working as an attorney, independent oil operator and drilling contractor, rancher, and banker, as owner of First National Bank, Fredonia. In 1983, Frank was united in marriage to Beverly Hertlein in Spearman, Texas.
