He provided research from several studies performed, including a unique one in which 1,100 wallets containing $50 cash were “lost” in the US with the owner’s information. Historical testing in the United States revealed that 40% of students believe plagiarism is an acceptable behavior but a more recent study shows teachers are now cheating to improve student performance. Steve challenged the group with real life examples where we as professionals are faced with ethical decisions in estate plan - ning and in competing for clients. He concluded by asking each of us to examine our ethical core. Other speakers included Douglas Stanley of Bryan Cave, LLP; Paul Himmelstein of Van Osdol Magruder; Cindy Miller of the Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter; Daniel Heckman and R. Clay Webb from US Bank Wealth Management Division; and Jim Moffett of Scout Investments. The topics were plentiful and attendees left the conference with valuable information to consider when they got home. Dean Kennedy awarded money from cash drawing for visiting conference booths.
