In a few short months she went full- time, and then progressed through teller and administrative assistant before being named Assistant Vice President and Personnel Officer in 1998.After receiving the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in May 2001, she was promoted to Vice President and a short time later to Senior Vice President of Operations and Human Resources. In January 2009, Shannon was named Executive Vice President, serving as Chief Operations Officer and Human Resources Officer. Capps was also elected to the Union State Bank Board of Directors. Shannon attended Cowley College and the Center for Management Development, W. Frank Barton School of Business, Wichita State University, earning a PHR certification. Prochnow Educational Foundation State School Scholarship Jeremy Hill, First State Bank, Kansas City Jeremy has served as a Vice President with First State Bank of Kansas City, Kansas since 2009, primarily in the com - mercial lending area but having an active role in several other areas of the bank as well. He advanced to this role after being hired in 2006 as an Assistant Vice President. Prior to joining First State Bank Jeremy worked in retail banking within the Kansas City market. Hill is a graduate of the University of Kansas in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political science. Jeremy and his wife, Lorrie, live with their son in Olathe. Human Resource Management School Scholarship Jennifer Edwards, Valley View Bank, Overland Park Jennifer is the Associate Vice President Human Resource Officer at Valley View Bank in Overland Park, Kansas. She provides oversight for all Human Resource activities includ - ing recruitment, employee relations, orientation and training. Jennifer earned her Bachelor’s degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Communications/Human Relations in 1992. Jennifer PHR certified through SHRM holds an HR certification through Southern Missouri State University. Graduate School of Banking at Colorado Future Leader Scholarship Dave Herbster, Community National Bank, Sabetha Dave studiedAgricultural Economics and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University in 1987 and started his banking career in 1993 with Morrill & Janes Bank in Sabetha, Kansas. In 2005 he accepted a lending position with Community National Bank in Seneca, Kansas. In 2009, the Community National Bank built a new branch in Sabetha and promoted Dave to Vice President and Branch manager of the new facility where he works today. Dave has been involved in and worked with agricultural customers his entire career and enjoys building banking relationships with all of his clients. Graduate School of Banking at Colorado State School Scholarship Jayme Burdiek, Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka, Topeka Jayme has been with FHLBank Topeka for eight years, cur - rently as the Liability and Derivative Operations Analyst for the Capital Markets Funding department. She serves as the co-chair of the Community Affairs Committee, the FHLBank’s coordinating group for charitable housing related activities including fundraising, contributions, and volunteer activities. Jayme’s prior banking experience includes community banking in the Topeka market as a Consumer Service Officer and varied operations positions. Jayme graduated from Friends University with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems. She is also a graduate of the Schools of Banking School of Banking Fundamentals. SW Graduate School of Banking Foundation Chris Cole, Lyndon State Bank, Lyndon Chris has been with Lyndon State Bank for three and one half years. He currently serves as Assistant Vice President and Loan Officer. Prior to joining Lyndon State Bank he worked for ten years with GMAC/RFC in Dallas, Texas in mortgage servic - ing and loan organizations. Chris graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a minor’s degree in Education and Biology. Chris lives in Lyndon with his wife, Erin, and daughter, Samantha. KBA/NBA Schools of Banking Scholarship Jennifer Dalton, Lyon County State Bank, Emporia Jennifer Dalton is Assistant Cashier with Lyon County State Bank in Emporia, Kansas. She joined the Lyon County State Bank team in July 2010. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from the California State University in Sacramento and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Kansas. She is also a Certified Public Accountant. A graduate of the Schools of Banking’s School of Banking Fundamentals, Jennifer will go on to attend the Advanced School of Banking in 2013.
