l e a d i n g a d v o c a t e f o r t h e b a n k i n g i n d u s t r y i n k a n s a s 8 K BA is pleased to announce the recipi- ents of four scholarships awarded from the Kansas Bankers Educational Foundation (KBEF), a 501(c)3 corporation created and operated by the Kansas Bank- ers Association. The Foundation is funded by bankers and faculty who elect to donate their expense reimbursements arising from attendance and/or instruction at Schools of Banking programs and committee meetings. Qualified applicants were assessed on the following criteria: • Must be the child of a full time employee of a KBA member bank • Enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior at a Kansas college or university (including community college) for the 2013 fall semester • Majoring in a business-related course of study • Maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher • Additional consideration given to financial need Congratulations to the following scholarship recipients selected by the KBEF Board of Directors: $1,000 Scholarship: William S. Herron is the son of Steve Herron, Alliance Bank in Topeka. Will will be a senior at the University of Kansas in the fall majoring in accounting with a 3.84 GPA. He is currently employed by Alliance Bank and plans to attend graduate school in the fall of 2014. $1,000 Scholarship: Morgan Oshinski is the daughter of Lisa Oshinski, Country Club Bank, Shawnee. Morgan will be a senior at Kansas State University in the fall and plans to study at the University of Herfordshire in England in the spring of 2014. Morgan is majoring in Business Marketing, with a minor in Economics and maintains a 3.70 GPA. $750 Scholarship: Brent A. Matile is the son of Jamie Matile, Girard National Bank, Yates Center. Brent is majoring in Business Management and Marketing at Washburn University, where he maintains a 3.35 GPA. A former college baseball player, Brent is currently em- ployed by Payless in Topeka. $750 Scholarship: Arissa Moyer is the daughter of Jaret Moyer, Citizens State Bank, Woodbine.
