l e a d i n g a d v o c a t e f o r t h e b a n k i n g i n d u s t r y i n k a n s a s 12 Duane Stoskopf After attending K-State majoring in Ag Economics, Duane began his banking career at the Bazine State Bank in August of 1963. After college, he served his country as a Lieutenant in the Army. He worked at the First National Bank in Salina and Hutchinson National Bank before purchasing controlling interest of the Kendall State Bank in Valley Falls in 1971. Duane became president and chairman of the board at that time. He currently serves as the chairman of the board and his daughter Jayne is the president & CEO. Duane has been active in the KBA serving on several committees through the years and as Treasurer in 1976. In business and in life Duane is a strong advocate of honesty, integrity, fair play and looking after the interests of others. He is married to Jo Ann and has 4 chil- dren, 10 grandchildren and even some great-grand-children. Bob Lampert Bob began working at the First National Bank in Be- loit during his high school and college years. Follow- ing his college graduation in 1967 he served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. In 1971 Bob returned to the bank in Beloit where he accepted a position as assistant cashier. He was elected to serve on the board in 1974 and pro- moted to cashier before being named executive vice president in 1994. In 1997 his family purchased controlling interest in the bank and Bob was named president and chairman. He currently serves as chairman of the board. Bob has been active in the KBA serving on several committees and also serving on the Board. He says his highlight was having the opportunity to purchase control of the bank, he only wishes his father had been around to see that after working many years at the bank. The other highlight of his career was being at the bank daily and seeing the customers, many of whom have become good friends. Duane Ramsey Duane began his banking career in August 1962 as a bookkeeper at the Security State Bank in Scott City. He was promoted to cashier in 1964 and executive vice president in 1973 before being named president of the bank in 1978. He is currently serving as president and chairman of Security Bancshares and chairman of Farmers State Bank in Oakley and chair- man of Farmers & Merchants Bank of Colby. Duane had been active in KBA serving on committees when asked. He says that he feels fortunate to have spent his banking career in the Scott City area where people had the desire and ability to take some risk to expand their feedlot operation, hire additional people and create economic growth. W.R. Robbins After Attending Ft Hays State University and earning a degree in secondary educa- tion, Bill began his working career in Dodge City as a math and science teacher. He entered his career in banking in 1963 when an opportunity arose to work for Farmers Bank in Gard- ner, Kansas, as a loan officer. In 1971 Bill purchased the Farmers Bank & Trust in Albert that had $4 million in assets. Today, Farmers Bank and Trust is headquartered in Great Bend and has over $652 million in assets. Ft. Hays State University has stayed near to his heart. Bill received the Alumni of the Year award and the Alumni Center, completed in 2007, is named the Robbins Center. He has been active and support- ive of KBA over his career serving as president in 1996-97. Bill is married to Yvonne and they have three grown children. James Schulze Jim started his banking ca- reer at The Peoples National Bank on August 12, 1963 as a bookkeeper. Over a three year period he promoted to teller, operations manager, assistant cashier and then as- sistant vice president. In the 1980s, Jim became a loan officer and started his climb to senior vice president & cashier. The bank went through changes in owner- ship and in July 2001 he was promoted to president of the Clay Center branch, which was named Gold Banc Corporation at that time. The bank changed ownership again in 2004 and is now United Bank & Trust. Jim made way for younger leadership in June of 2006 when he stepped down as branch president and he currently works part time as a staff consultant. Jim feels blessed and honored to work in the same bank building for so many years, working alongside his coworkers and friends.
