The bank was chartered in 1913 so they will be celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Southwest Kansas Bank Gets a New Name On June 27, 2013, Farmers National Bank updated its name to Prairie Bank of Kansas. The locally owned bank originated in Stafford Kansas nearly 130 years ago and now has locations in Stafford, Buhler, Inman and Hutchinson. One thing that prompted the new name was the deci- sion to move from a national bank charter to a state bank charter. Brad Rucker Named Market President Home Bank & Trust Company announced that Bradley D. Rucker has been promoted to Wichita Market President. Brad has overall responsibility for the operation, growth and profitability of the two Wichita branches. Rucker started his banking career with the Clearwater Branch of Home Bank & Trust Co. in 1993 after graduation from Friends University where he was a member of the varsity men’s basketball team. In 2002, he was responsible for opening the West Branch at 10421 W. Central. Five years later in 2007, he opened and became manager of the new East Branch at 1409 N. Greenwich. Jennifer Cook New Addition to OSBC Jennifer Cook is the Deputy Commissioner, Division of Consumer and Mortgage Lend- ing, Office of the State Bank Commissioner. Most recently she served as the Adminis- trator for the Kansas Governor’s Grants Program, which manages state and federal grants awarded to local agencies. From 2000-2011 she served on the staff of U.S. Senator Pat Roberts as Deputy Legislative Director and as a Legislative Assistant. She handled financial services, tax, pension, and budget issues and served as staff to Senator Roberts on tax matters before the Senate Finance Committee. She has a bachelor’s degree from Washburn University and a master’s degree from The University of Kansas. Jennifer is a native of Hutchinson, Kansas.  Aaron Arneson named VP/Trust Officer at Country Club Trust Aaron K. Arneson has joined Country Club Trust Co., a subsidiary of Country Club Bank, as vice president/trust officer and tax specialist. Most recently, Arneson had practiced as an associate at a Kansas City law firm and maintained his own private business law practice. His primary areas of practice were business, tax and bankruptcy law. While in law school he served as president of the Student Bar Association, as a student associate at the Kansas City Tax Clinic, and as a legal intern to the Hon. Dennis R. Dow of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. In fond memory Eugene C. “Gene” Hegarty, 79, of Atchison, KS, died Friday July 26th, 2013 at the Atchison Medicalodge surrounded by his family. Gene be- gan working part-time as a clerk at the Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Effingham in 1950. A year later he was working fulltime, returning to the same position after his honorable discharge from the Air Force. In October of 1965, he became President and director of the bank, where he remained until September 1999 when the bank was sold to The Exchange National Bank & Trust Company. At that time he joined the board of directors for The Exchange National Bank and continued to work in the Effingham branch until May 2013. Highlights of Gene Hegarty’s 60 year banking career include serving on the State Banking Board for Kansas from 1972 – 1978 and as the State Bank Commissioner for Kansas from July 1983 to November 1984.
