A native of Belleville, Chuck has left a legacy to the banking industry by way of serving as KBA’s General Counsel for 37 years. Chuck received his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Kansas. Upon graduating from law school, he served as a staff judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force. Following his tour of duty, Chuck returned to Topeka and became an assistant attorney general for Kansas Attorney General John Anderson, Jr. In 1966, he entered private practice in Topeka with the law firm of Eidson, Lewis, Porter & Haynes, where he became partner in 1970 – the same year he was named General Counsel of the KBA. Chuck was always very proud to say he was the General Counsel of the KBA. The KBA recognized Chuck for his years of service in 2007, when he retired. “Throughout the years, the KBA has been a wonderful client and employer. I’ve always felt that the KBA, whatever the issues were, wanted to do the right thing,” said Chuck at his retirement. Chuck’s quiet, thoughtful and scholarly advice will be missed, but the many pages of positive precedent for the banking industry will live on. When the winds of change start blowing, you better have a warm jacket. Or a good bank.
