Straight, 71, of Kansas City, MO left this world to be with his Lord on October 30, 2014. Phil was a long-time head of UMB Corre- spondent Banking in Kansas City. Phil was predeceased by his parents, Harley and Maxine Straight. Those left to cherish the many memories created by this incredible man are wife of 43 years, Sandy; sons, Jeff and Mitch (Tammy); grandchildren, Riley, Ethan and Ryann and many wonderful friends. Frank Dunnick, 73, of Girard, Kansas, passed away at his home on October 1, 2014. He was the Chairman of the Southeast Kansas Bancshares Holding Company, which owns Prescott State Bank, Exchange State Bank of St Paul, Exchange State Bank of Girard and Exchange State Bank of Columbus. Dunnick was the 43rd State Bank Commissioner of Kansas, a position held for four years. Robert A Oleen, ’96, of Dwight, Kansas, passed away in his home on August 31, 2014. Bob wore “many a hat” in his lifetime as a banker, farmer, insurance agent, tax preparer, and real estate broker. He was the current Chairman of the Board of Farmers State Bank in Dwight, where his son, Jan, serves as president. Despite his numerous accomplishments and accolades, Bob was most proud of his family and their personal and professional successes. Bob married the love of his life, Florence Johnson, in Salina, KS on January 14, 1944. Florence preceded him in death on December 17, 1996. Survivors include his four children: Jan (Jeanie) Oleen of Dwight, KS; Kent (Lana) Oleen of Manhattan, KS; Arden (Meg) Oleen of Dwight, KS; and Diane Oleen of Kansas City, MO. He has 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friedel to Head Strategic Planning for American State Bancshares Kenneth Friedel, Wichita, has been named the new Senior Vice-President & Director of Corporate Strategies for American State Bancshares, Inc. The position involves stra- tegic planning, succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, process improvements and special projects. Schartz Joins American State Bank & Trust Pawnee County native Pete Schartz has joined American State Bank and Trust Company in Great Bend as its new vice-president for agricultural and commercial lending. Schartz grew up on the family farm south of Larned and graduated from Larned High School in 1981. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from Kansas State University in 1985. The First National Bank of Hutchinson Welcomes New Goddard Branch Manager First National Bank (The First) recently hired Rebecca Salyers as the Branch Manager of its Goddard location at the corner of Kellogg and 183rd Street. Salyers joins The First with many years of banking experience and specializes in personal and small business banking. She attended Kansas State Uni- versity and has completed a variety of bank industry trainings during her career. Unrein Named to Rose Hill Bank Advisory Board Local businessman and entrepreneur Kevin Unrein has been selected as the newest member of the Rose Hill Bank Advisory Board. The announcement was made recently by Rose Hill Bank President and CEO Roger Kepley. Stacy Olson has Announced His Retire - ment from Farmers State Bank of Jetmore, a branch of Bank of Hays Stacy Olson began his career in banking in 1968, filing checks after school. He is a life-long resident of Jetmore and has held many positions in the bank over the years. Whether working as a teller, bookkeeper, loan officer, compliance officer, president or director, Stacy has served his community through his role in the bank. He graduated from the Graduate School of Banking and participated in regional and state level training. Stacy is looking forward to fishing and spending time with his grandchildren but always appreciated the friends he made in the banking community. A retirement reception will be held for Stacy on December 17 from 10 am-3 pm at Farmers State Bank – 601 Main -Box 157 – Jetmore, KS 67854. John and Sara Evans, owners of the Farmers State Bank, were chosen as honorary members of the Lebo National Honor Society on October 1, 2014. The Lebo High School chapter of the NHS inducted 11 new members and the Evans’ as honorary members in a ceremony held at the school. John and Sara were recognized for contributing to the community and supporting a multitude of programs. Briefly... In Kansas Banking
