She joined FNBSK in 2000 as a customer service representative. Smarsh was pro- moted to Assistant Branch Manager of the Andale location in 2013. Prior to joining FNBSK she had 11 years of banking experience in the Wichita area. Smarsh earned a Certificate of Supervision from Wichita State University. First Bank Announces Employee Promotions First Bank’s management announces the promotion of several existing employees to new positions within the bank. Carrie L. Springer has been promoted to As- sistant Branch Manager of the Hesston Branch. Springer has been employed with First Bank since 2014, most recently as a teller at the South Kansas Branch. Springer is a graduate of Butler Commu- nity College with an associate degree in Liberal Arts and is a member of The Gathering church. Annette Knauss has been promoted to Manager of the Hesston Branch and will be responsible for lending, new and established accounts, supervising staff and day to day branch operations. Knauss joined First Bank in 2011, and was the Hesston Branch Assistant Manager from 2012 to 2014. She serves on First Bank’s Health First Committee and United Way Committee. Kimberly L. Richtig has been named Market- ing Director for First Bank. Her new duties will include advertising, public relations and event planning. Richtig has 31 years of banking expe- rience and worked for First Bank since 2001. She was promoted to Hesston Branch Manager in 2005. Richtig is a graduate of Patricia Stevens College/ Institute of Business and Arts with an associate degree in Business Management and Marketing. She has also completed additional col- lege and banking courses. She is Treasurer for the Hesston Chamber of Commerce and is co-chair of First Bank’s United Way Committee. Richtig is also a member of First Bank’s Health First Committee. In Loving Memory Martin E. Schifferdecker Martin E. Schifferdecker, 80, of Girard passed away Friday, February 6. Martin was born July 20, 1934 in Girard, a son of Earl and Florene (Morrison) Schifferdecker and was a resident of Girard his entire life. He at - tended Girard Schools, graduating from the Girard High School in 1952. After graduation from Pittsburg State University (then known as Kansas State Teacher’s College), Martin enjoyed a lifelong career in banking at the Girard National Bank, serving as President and Chairman of the Board. Martin was well known in the area, and impacted the lives of countless individuals with his generous heart and good humor.
