Federal advocacy is the primary focus of this session with specific attention on the roles of federal bank regulators and strengthening relationships with members of the Kansas Congressional Delegation. The nineteen member class enjoyed a monument tour with a bit of trivia, conducted by KBA EVP- Government Relations Doug Wareham as the session got underway on Sunday evening. It was all business on Monday morning with an interactive session led by Jackie Cottrell, Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Pat Roberts and Jim Richardson, Chief of Staff for U.S. Congressman Mike Pompeo. The class learned how congressional offices operate behind the scenes along with best practices for getting your voice heard on Capitol Hill. A highlight for the session included an evening of networking with the KBA Federal Affairs Committee (FAC) aboard a dinner cruise on the Potomac River.
