He will assume this role at the annual meeting in August. As the eldest of 6 children, Bob was born and raised in Wichita. He attended Wichita State University where he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Bank Management. At that time the KBA supported the bank management program by sponsoring the banking chair, a leadership position for the program. Bob continued his formal education at the University of Colorado where he graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in 1982. Bob stated “I have always had a love for working with numbers and their impact on our lives. I started working for my dad in his accounting business as a teen using the old double entry bookkeeping system. I came to understand the interaction of numbers and how they related to business success and failure. My love of numbers has helped me as a banker to talk to and counsel numerous customers, businesses, and students about financial management.” In looking back over 46 years in banking, Bob is amazed at all the people he has met and relationships that have been forged through banking. Bob went to work in the banking industry right out of high school where he worked for a friend of his father’s at the National Bank of Wichita in 1969. He started out filing checks and worked part-time as a teller through college. After graduation in 1973, he found full time employment at Union National Bank in Wichita, working in marketing and sales. He met his wife, Mary Jayne, while they were both working at Union National Bank. Shortly after MEET THE NEW KBA CHAIRMAN, ROBERT LEFTWICH
