l e a d i n g a d v o c a t e f o r t h e b a n k i n g i n d u s t r y i n k a n s a s 8 KBA Chairman-elect Jim Hoskins is the CEO/Chairman of Baxter State Bank in Baxter Springs. He arrived in this role as a seasoned bank leader in 1988 following previous employment as CEO of Bank of Quapaw, in Oklahoma, and as the EVP at American State Bank in Oswego, before that. He has an entrepreneurial spirit with previous ownership of Hoskins Chevrolet and Cruzan’s Jewelry in Oswego. Jim has a foundation in farming and ranching as well. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree at Pittsburg State University and continued his banking education at the Graduate School of Banking Wisconsin. Jim has been very involved with KBA. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the KBA Employee Benefits Committee and he was on the KBA Board of Directors from 2010-2013. He has previously served on the KBA Products and Services Task Force, KBAAg Committee and on the KBA BankPAC Committee. As involved as Jim has been with his industry association, he finds the time to serve his community with full dedication. He is currently the Chairman of Baxter Springs Senior Housing, President of the Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg, a board member of the Economic Development Advisory Council for the City of Pittsburg and a board member for the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, among others. Jim and his wife Barbara (Buggy) just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and have one daughter named Hilary. Jim previously enjoyed time as a scuba diver, pilot and participating in triathlons but currently spends more time golfing, riding his motorcycle, bicycling and participating in private giving through a charitable foundation, as trustee. His desire in the role as KBA Chairman-elect is to help true community banking survive in rural towns of Kansas. He wants to work with regulatory agencies and policy makers in an effort to achieve this. Region 1 Representative Charles Derby has served as the President of the Lawrence Market for First State Bank & Trust since January of 2012. Prior to that he was employed by Central National Bank as the Lawrence Market President. He also previously enjoyed work with the Office of the State Bank Commissioner as a Field Office Supervisor/Bank Examiner. Charles earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pittsburg State University and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. He serves as the treasurer for Junior Achievement of Lawrence. Charles and his wife Kirsten have 4 daughters: Lilli, Sarah, Megan and Erin. Charles enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing and coaching his girls in softball. Region 2 Representative Maureen Gustafson is the President & CEO of Millennium Bank in Junction City, where she has worked since 2007. She was previously employed at 1st State Bank in Junction City for 27 years. Maureen is active with KBA and has served on the Bank Management Committee since 2013. She is active in her community and serves as the Chairman of the Board for Junction City/ Geary County Metropolitan Planning Commission & Board of Zoning Appeals. She is the Treasurer for Junction City Chamber of Commerce and the Secretary for Junction City 1st Investment Board. Maureen serves as a board member for Geary Community Heathcare Foundation Investment Board, Treasurer for the Junction City Kiwanis Club and Chairman of the Finance Council for St. Xavier Catholic Church & School. Maureen and her husband Richard have two boys, Lee and Logan. She enjoys reading, sports and working in her community. Region 3 Representative Mark Keeny went to work for Citizens Bank of Kansas in Kingman in 1993 and he serves as the CEO. He was formerly a Financial Examiner for the Office of the State Bank Commissioner. Mark earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Kansas and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado in 1998. He served as a member of the BankPAC Committee for KBA from 2012- 2015. Mark and his wife Amy have two children: Sarah and Samuel. He enjoys collegiate sports and classic cars. He hopes his past experiences contribute to the goals of KBA as he serves his peers in Region 3 to the best of his abilities. MEET THE NEWLY-ELECTED KBA BOARD MEMBERS
