Johnson was born February 28th, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to Herbert and Dorothy (Green) Johnson. He passed from this life on Monday, September 14th, 2015 as a lifelong resident of Courtland, Kansas at the age of 68 years. Mike attended Courtland Elementary and High School and graduated in 1965. He attended Fort Hays State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. While attending FHSU, he met Karen Anderson, whom he married in 1969. Together they had three children, Travis Michael, Tanner Michael and Tara Nan. Years later, he met Margaret Christian and they were wed in 1995. In 2013, Maggie became ill, and Mike was by her side until her last day in October of 2013. In 1969 Mike began working as a state bank examiner in Topeka, Kansas. He moved back to Courtland, Kansas in 1971 to begin a career at the Swedish-American State Bank with his father, Herb. He spent the rest of his life giving back to his community through his service to the people of Courtland and the surrounding area. Mike worked in all aspects of the bank, and eventually served as a member of the Independent Community Bankers of America – Rural/Agriculture Committee. He finished his career as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at the Swedish American State Bank and President of the Johnson Insurance Agency. Mike loved taking time to connect with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer, had a passion for music, and was a devoted fan of the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of Courtland Lodge No 211 AF & AM, Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, Isis Shrine Temple and Royal Order of Jesters. He was a faithful member of Ada Lutheran Church, Kackley, KS for over forty years. He will forever be remembered by his brother Gregory K. Johnson, DDS and wife Mary Ann, Parkville, MO; three children, Travis Johnson and wife Katrina, Wichita, Tanner Johnson and wife Kathy and children Ella and Samuel, Courtland, Tara Renze and husband Scott and children Ben and Jack, Leawood; step children Erin Schaffer and husband Brett and children Casey and Kinser, Spearville, Jamie Blacklock and husband Curt and children Colt and Waylon, Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Chuck Maggiorotto Named CEO of Tower Wealth Managers Chuck Maggiorotto, CFA, CFP, has been appointed president and CEO of Tower Wealth Managers, a wholly owned subsidiary of Country Club Trust Co. in Kansas City, Missouri. In his new position Maggiorotto is responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of asset management under the financial services umbrella as well as leading the wealth management team. He has more than 30 years of experience in the investment management, trust and brokerage arena, most recently as a regional investment executive with US Trust/Bank of America Private Wealth in St. Louis. His office is in the Country Club Bank headquarters at 1 Ward Parkway on Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza. VisionBank Participates in Take your Lawmaker to Work Week In an effort to demonstrate to lawmakers how new regulations impact bank operations and ability to serve customers, VisionBank in Topeka participated in ABA’s Take Your Lawmaker to Work Week September 21-25. Representative Lynn Jenkins and Senator Pat Robert spent “a day in the life” of a community banker to see the effect of regulatory burden firsthand. Gary Yager, President of VisionBank in Topeka, welcomed U.S. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins to the bank for a firsthand look at how regulatory burden has affected consumer access to credit. Senator Roberts visited with Amanda Hartshorn, SVP, Jana Proctor, SVP, and Gary Yager, President of VisionBank, as part of the Take Your Lawmaker to Work initiative by the ABA.
