A graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in mechanical engineering, his first career was in the manufacturing sector prior to joining The State Bank in Pretty Prairie, which was later purchased by Citizens Bank of Kansas. Sid is active in the community and still operates the family farm outside of Pretty Prairie. State School Scholarship BROCK STUHLSATZ Verus Bank, Derby Brock is a retail banking officer at Verus Bank and currently focuses on lending, but has served in many different roles since joining the bank in 2007. A graduate of Wichita State University, Brock has completed the KBA/NBA Schools of Banking School of Banking Fundamentals and Advanced School of Banking, as well as the ABA Commercial Lending School. In his spare time. Brock enjoys volunteering in the community and Wichita State basketball. Prochnow Educational Foundation Scholarship BRIAN SCHWARZ First Bank Kansas, Salina Brian is Vice President at First Bank Kansas with primary responsibility for commercial and residential lending, including supervision of various employees in the bank. Prior to joining the bank, he was a small business owner. Brian earned a business management degree from Fort Hays State University and has attended the KBA/NBA Schools of Banking’s Lending Principles and Commercial Lending Schools, as well as ABA’s National Commercial Lending School and Graduate Commercial Lending School. State School Scholarship KELLY STEPHENS Conway Bank, Conway Springs Kelly has been with Conway Bank since 2011 and is currently serving in the capacity of Vice President and Senior Operations Officer. A graduate of Friends University with a business degree and accounting concentration, Kelly has completed the KBA/NBA Schools of Banking Operations School and the Advanced School of Banking. She and her husband have four children. Banker Advisory Board Scholarship CAMERON COOPER Patriots Bank, Garnett Cameron Cooper has been selected by the bank as the recipient of this year’s Banker Advisory Board scholarship. Cameron is Vice President and involved in all types of lending, including commercial, agricultural, real estate and consumer lending. He is a 2010 graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in business management and a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. SCHOLARSHIPS The Kansas Bankers Association is pleased to announce scholarship recipients for 2016. These Kansas bankers were selected based on demonstrated leadership skills that benefit both their banks and their communities. Congratulations to these seven outstanding individuals! Scholarship recipients to the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison receive $1,300 per year for each year of attendance at the school. Scholarship recipients to the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado receive $1,325 per year for each year of attendance at the school.
