l e a d i n g a d v o c a t e f o r t h e b a n k i n g i n d u s t r y i n k a n s a s 8 MEET THE KBA BOARD MEMBERS ELECTED IN 2016 KBA CHAIRMAN-ELECT Ronald “Ron” Johnson is the President and CEO of Community National Bank in Seneca where he has worked since 2002. Previously he served as an EVP at Humboldt National Bank and Regional President at Enterprise Bank. He entered the banking industry at Elk State Bank in Clyde in 1976. Johnson received his undergraduate degree at North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and continued his education at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. He has been active as a leader in the banking community with service on the KBA Board of Directors, KBA Treasurer and Chairman of the KBA Bank Management Committee. He has also served on the KBAI Board of Directors and is a Past Chairman of the BBOK Board of Directors. Johnson has served his community in many capacities as well including as Past Chairman of the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital. Ron and his wife, Mavis, live in Seneca and have one daughter, Aleece. Johnson’s hobbies include outside activities such as hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoys reading about economics and history as well as faith based activities. Johnson feels strongly that this is not a time for community bankers to be timid. “We have a great story to tell about the economic catalyst that community banks play for our communities around the state,” he stated. He continued “We need to work through our association to make sure everyone understands the important role community banks play in the life of our state, and work to ensure that regulation is reasonable and administered with common sense so we are all allowed to fulfill that important role.” TREASURER Lynn Mayer is the CEO of Citizens State Bank of Marysville, where he has worked since 1984. He previously worked at the Peoples Savings & Loan in Manhattan. Mayer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance at Kansas State University and continued his education at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. He has been involved with the banking industry through service on the KBA Board of Directors and on the KBA Kansas Ag Bankers Board. Lynn and his wife, Jerri, have two adult children; Kelsie Tryon (Olathe), and Gannon Mayer (Manhattan). Mayer enjoys a good golf game, yardwork, sporting events and traveling. REGION 1 REPRESENTATIVE Chris Donnelly is the President and CEO of Bank of the Prairie in Olathe where he has served since 2010. Prior to this role he served as the EVP and on the Board of Directors for MidAmerica Bank & Trust and augmented into the same role at Country Club Bank after the positions were merged. He had also previously served as the EVP & Chief Lending Officer at First State Bank and Trust for 15 years after 10 years of service in other bank roles. Donnelly earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Oklahoma State University. He has served on the KBA Bank Management Committee and volunteered to participate in a Bank CEO Panel for the Young Bank Officers conference in 2016. He has served his community in many capacities to include Board of Directors at Kansas Development Finance Authority, Councilman in the City of Tonganoxie, Tonganoxie Industrial Park Development Committee, Board of Directors for Kansas Housing Resources Corporation and several committee roles for the Sacred Heart Church in Tonganoxie. REGION 2 REPRESENTATIVE Ronald Wente is the President/ CEO and Chairman of the Board for Golden Belt Bank FSA in Hays. He has served the same financial institution since 1973. Wente attended Fort Hays State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He served on the KBA Board of Directors from 2015- 2016 in a Chairman appointed position following the transition of multiple savings and loan memberships from Heartland Community Bankers. He was elected to continue his service on the KBA board in this capacity. Wente has served in a leadership capacity within the banking industry as a past board member and Chairman of FHLBank Topeka, Board of Council of FHLBanks, Past Board member and Chairman of HCBA and FHLBank Committee of ABA. He has also served his community as Dean’s Executive
