After a year in Denver he moved back to Ness City to teach there. He taught in Ness City for about a year and then joined the First State Bank in Ness City in June of 1966. He worked his way up the ranks of the bank and became President of the bank in 1980. He was CEO from 1980 until 2006. Boyd continues as Chairman of the Board today. In 1975, Boyd formed Beutler, Inc. and began purchasing shares of the bank and in 1990 became the owner of 100% of the bank. Boyd has naturally been active in local activities having served on the City Council and Mayor of Ness City. He has also served on the Ness County Healthcare Foundation since its inception over 25 years ago. Boyd is an avid bow hunter and enjoys golf, hunting and fishing and rooting for the Jayhawks and Royals. She began her career in banking May of 1966 when she took a job at the Fourth National Bank in Wichita as a bank page. In 1969, she moved to Bank of America and worked as a service representative in their Visa Debit area. In 1975, she made her final move to Chisolm Trail State Bank. She was promoted to President in 1991. Kathleen has been very active with KBA by serving as Chairman of the Bank Management Committee, and two terms on the KBA Board of Directors before her term as KBA Chairman in 2003. She has also served on the Board of Directors for DCI and served on the State of Kansas Banking Board from 1994-1997.
