In Kansas Banking Brock Needham joins First National Bank of Hutchinson Brock Needham recently joined First National Bank as a Junior Loan Officer in the Commercial Lending Department located at The First’s location in downtown Hutchinson. Needham earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business from Kansas State University and graduated from Cheney High School. He is a member of Young Professionals of Reno County. Amanda Smith joins First National Bank of Hutchinson Amanda Smith joined First National Bank as Vice President and Manager, Human Resources. Her duties include oversight of all Human Resources functions for nine locations of The First. Prior to joining The First, Smith worked for nine years at Data Center, Inc. in the Human Resources Department where she was promoted several times. Smith earned an Associate of Science in Business from Hutchinson Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management with minors in Sociology and Management from Wichita State University. She currently is President of the Hutchinson Community College Alumni Board and serves as a board member for Cause for Paws, Inc. and Delos V. Smith. KBA Hires Neal Barclay, CRCM, ALMP – Compliance Specialist & Auditor Neal is originally from Iola, Kansas and currently still resides there. He has worked in multiple banks and has nearly 30 years of banking experience in Compliance, BSA and Mortgage/Consumer Lending. Neal has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Economics from Pittsburg State University. He is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. KBA Promotes Susan Salyer to VP, Employee Benefits Susan Salyer has been promoted to Vice President, Employee Benefits. Susan has been with KBA Insurance for seven years. In that time, we have taken over the administration of the KBA life and disability plans. On August 1, 2014 we took over the administration of the KBA self-funded medical plan. The administration of the medical plan was a much bigger challenge than we anticipated, but the change has allowed us to more seamlessly serve our bankers, as well as assist them in navigating the Affordable Care Act. Susan is in daily contact with our bankers and has represented KBA Insurance in a very positive way. First National Bank of Hutchinson Employee Promotions Cheri Fahrbach was promoted to Senior Vice President and Manager, Retail Banking. Fahrbach joined The First in 2010 as Vice President and Manager, Haven location. In 2013 she was assigned the responsibility of managing all locations of The First outside of Hutchinson. Prior to joining The First, Fahrbach had over 20 years of experience with other financial institutions. She was Executive Vice President and a board member of BankHaven prior to a merger with The First in 2010. Fahrbach earned banking certifications from the Kansas Bankers Association and Community Bankers Association in the areas of Consumer Lending, Retail Banking, and Management. She is a graduate of Leadership Reno County. Fahrbach currently serves on the boards of the Haven Chamber of Commerce and New Beginnings, where she also serves as treasurer. Chelsea Barker was promoted to Vice President, Business Relationship Management, Retail Banking. Barker joined The First in 2009 and was promoted to Officer in 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a minor in Applied Behavioral Science, with honors, from the University of Kansas. Barker is a 2015 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. She currently serves as a board member of the Hutchinson Community Foundation and of the Young Bank Officers of Kansas for the Kansas Bankers Association. Barker is a Chamber Ambassador; a recipient of the “20 Under 40” recognition by The Hutchinson News; a member of Young Professionals of Reno County and serves on several TECH committees. Doug Moon was promoted to Vice President, Farm Management Services. Moon joined The First in 2010 as Officer and Farm Manager and is located in Garden City. Prior to joining The First, Moon worked for 16 years as a farm manager for another financial institution. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education with a Business Minor from the University of Nebraska. He holds a Kansas Real Estate Brokers license and a Kansas General Appraisers license. Rob Tanner was promoted to Vice President, Farm Management Services. Tanner joined The First in 2009 as Officer and Farm Manager and is located in Garden City. Prior to joining The First he worked as a grain merchandiser and ag fertilizer and chemical salesman. Tanner earned dual degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing, from Kansas State University. He is a member of the Kansas Society of Farm Managers. Currently Tanner is active in the Knights of Columbus and helps coach in the Garden City area YMCA and Recreation leagues.
