Schmitz is located at the Goddard and Andale locations and joined The First in 2012 following a merger with First National Bank of Southern Kansas. She started her banking career in 2005 and following the merger served the Goddard location as Branch Manager. In 2014 she transferred to the Commercial Lending Department. Schmitz earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Wichita State University (WSU) and also earned a Certificate in Supervision from the Center for Management Development at WSU. She is an active member of the Goddard Chamber of Commerce and Young Professionals of Goddard. Jenna Kelman was promoted to Officer, Credit Administration. Kelman joined The First in 2008 in the Retail Banking Department and was promoted to a Credit Analyst position in 2009. She earned an Associate Arts degree from Hutchinson Community College and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Marketing Management Minor, Magna Cum Laude, from Wichita State University. Kelman is a member of Young Professionals of Reno County and is active on The First’s Wellness Committee; with South Hutchinson Elementary Parent Teacher Council; and with the Our Lady of Guadalupe Altar Society. Jason Steele was promoted to Officer, Information Technology. Steele joined the first in 2007 as a Help Desk Support Technician and was promoted in 2011 to Network Administrator. He attended Kansas State University at Salina and earned two Associate of Technology degrees (in Web Development and Computer Systems) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems Technology. He earned the Certified Banking Security Technology Professional certification from the SBS Institute. Steele is an active member of Young Professionals of Reno County and serves as an Advisory Council Member and as the 2017 Chair of the Connections Committee. Cox named VP of information technology at Golden Belt Bank Golden Belt Bank has announced the promotion of Brian Cox to assistant vice president of information technology. Cox has served as the network administrator for Golden Belt Bank for over 11 years and brings 19 years of computer systems experience to this role. Prior to his work with Golden Belt Bank, he served as a systems engineer for the Hutchinson office of Agris Corp. In this position, he designed and installed computer networks for companies throughout the U.S. and Canada. Steve Martens Joins Central Bank and Trust Co. Board of Directors Steve Martens , CEO of The Martens Companies, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Central Bank and Trust Co. Martens' election expands the Board to six members, reflecting the bank's growing market presence in both Hutchinson and Wichita. A graduate of the University of Kansas, Martens holds the Certified Property Manager (CPM), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), and Society of Industrial & Office Realtors designations. He is the past president of the Kansas Association of Realtors and the Wichita Association of Realtors and was inducted into the Midwest Real Estate News' Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2010. Additionally, Martens serves as the capital campaign chairman for United Methodist Open Door and is a board member and past chairman for United Way of the Plains. He is a past board member and chairman of the Kansas Cosmosphere & Space Center, past co-chair of the Kansas Day Club, and past board member for Exploration Place and the Wichita/Sedgwick County Task Force to End Chronic Homelessness. Martens was named Philanthropist of the Year in 2013 by the Wichita Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals and in 2014 became a Hall of Fame Laureate for Junior Achievement of Wichita. Valley State Bank recently announced the promotions of four Derby residents. Left to right: Evan Hathaway, Jonathon Holmes, Meg Ormond, Susan Holmes Evan Hathaway has been promoted to Vice President. Hathaway has worked at Valley State Bank for 11 years. He holds his BBA from Friends University. Hathaway researches and implements positive business solutions to help customers succeed. Jonathan Holmes has been promoted to Executive Vice President. Holmes has worked for the bank for over 14 years and currently serves as a loan officer in the Derby location. He is an active member in the Derby Chamber of Commerce, where he is a Chamber Ambassador and former board member. Meg Ormond has been promoted to Assistant Cashier. Ormond has worked for the bank for three and a half years in the bookkeeping department at the main office in Belle Plaine. She assists customers in their day-to-day needs. Susan Holmes has been promoted to Assistant Vice President. Holmes has worked for the bank for ten years in different departments and currently oversees the educational bank located at Campus High School.
