l e a d i n g a d v o c a t e f o r t h e b a n k i n g i n d u s t r y i n k a n s a s 8 MEET THE NEW KBA BOARD MEMBERS Chris Donnelly, Chairman-elect Chris Donnelly is the President and CEO of Bank of the Prairie in Olathe where he has served since 2010. Prior to this role, he served as the EVP and on the Board of Directors for MidAmerica Bank & Trust and augmented into the same role at Country Club Bank after the positions were merged. He had also previously served as the EVP & Chief Lending Officer at First State Bank and Trust for 15 years after 10 years of service in other bank roles. Donnelly earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Oklahoma State University. He has served on the KBA Bank Management Committee and volunteered to participate in a Bank CEO Panel for the Young Bank Officers of Kansas (YBOK) conference in 2016. He has served his community in many capacities, including Board of Directors at Kansas Development Finance Authority, Councilman for the City of Tonganoxie, Tonganoxie Industrial Park Development Committee, Board of Directors for Kansas Housing Resources Corporation and several committee roles for the Sacred Heart Church in Tonganoxie. Jonathon Johnson, Region 1 Representative Jonathon Johnson is the President, CEO and Bank Director for Home Savings Bank in Chanute, where he has been employed since 2013. He previously worked at Community National Bank in Chanute for 12 years and at Kendall State Bank in Overland Park prior to that. Johnson started his 25-year trek in the banking industry following his active duty service in the U.S. Army, where he served as a Tank Platoon Leader/ Troop Commander. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Pittsburg State University and a Master’s of Divinity at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, in 2007. He is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. Johnson enjoyed serving as a Chaplain in the Army National Guard until he retired in 2016 as a Major. He is a member of the 2017 KBA Bank Leaders of Kansas (BLOK) class and serves on the KBA State Affairs Committee. Johnson has been active in his community by serving as the president of the Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce, board member for USD 413, president of Main Street Chanute, and rotary club secretary/treasurer. He is currently a member of the Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, Member of the 1st Baptist Church and he serves as the Chaplain with Racers for Christ. Johnson and his wife Michelle reside in Chanute and have three grown sons. 1LT Mason Johnson and his wife Katy live in Ft Bragg, NC, and they have one son, Maxwell. Harrison resides in Nashville, TN, and their youngest son, Grayson, is attending Pittsburg State University. Johnson enjoys riding and working on motorcycles. Mike Day, Region 2 Representative Mike Day serves as the President of Denison State Bank in Holton, where he was first employed as a lender in 1997. Prior to his banking career, he worked in the feedlot industry. Day earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University. He has also attended multiple schools from the Schools of Banking, including, Banking Fundamentals, Principles of Lending, Agricultural Lending and Advanced Agricultural Lending. Day has been active in the KBA with service on the KBA Ag Bankers Division board of directors where he also served as the division president in 2004. He has also served on the KBA State Affairs Committee and the Bank Management Committee. Day has been very active in his community by serving as the past chairman on the Jackson County Extension Council, past board member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau and past board member for Jackson County Tourism. Day is married to Sheila, his wife of 32 years. Together, they have one daughter, Leah, who works as a pharmacist, along with her husband Clint. In his free time Day enjoys operating his ranch with his wife and volunteering at his church and within the local community.
