Turnbull has been promoted to Community Market President in Pittsburg, Kansas. Previously a Commercial Banker, Turnbull will now formulate a hierarchy of objectives, standards of performance, strategies, plans, and budgets, among other responsibilities as Community Market President. Arvest will open a new branch in Pittsburg in 2018. Turnbull, who has 14 years of banking experience, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in finance at Pittsburg State, where he later earned a master’s degree in business administration. He also completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 2011. A member of the Pittsburg Salvation Army Advisory Board, Turnbull also is an active member of the Rotary Club of Pittsburg and enjoys volunteering and working with area youth. Turnbull lives in Pittsburg with his wife, Rebecca, and their five children. Retirement of Carolyn Morton After 48+ years in Kansas banking, Carolyn K Morton has retired from Greensburg State Bank a branch of SJN Bank of Kansas. Carolyn started her career after high school graduation working through college in Liberal and Wichita banks. After graduating from Wichita State University, she joined the State Banking Department as an Examiner. She was the second female hired by the state. Carolyn was the first female promoted to Head Examiner of an area territory. She left examining and returned to the banking side with a bank in Great Bend. She was transferred to Wichita with BANK IV. Carolyn worked in Operations, Technology, Audit, and Compliance over the years in various banks. Carolyn was active in Financial Women International serving as the Kansas chapter state president for two years. Carolyn has one son Bryce, married to Jill and one granddaughter Paige. Carolyn plans to spend time enjoying her granddaughter, doing wood working, traveling, and playing golf. Cody Yanchak joins CalTech’s Business Development Team Cody Yanchak has been working in business development with community bankers across the US for over ten years. Cody has a passion for helping businesses succeed and building lasting relationships. He is looking forward to helping community banks in the Midwest remain independent and maximize their investments in IT. Cody has two children, Harper and Cash, with his wife Kendra of 7 years. Cody studied business management at Sam Houston State University, enjoys playing basketball, and is an avid outdoorsman. Patriots Bank Took their Lawmaker to Work Three generations of Coopers recently took their lawmaker to work! Congresswoman Lynne Jenkins spent time at Patriots Bank in Garnett, discussing how regulatory burden is really a burden to the community bank customer, why it's time to treat tax-advantaged bank competitors the same under the tax code and how important it is for a community bank to attract and retain great employees. After thanking Cong. Jenkins for her support of the Financial Choice Act, the three urged her to keep the pressure on for further reform. Impact Bank Welcomes Jared L. Brown as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jared L. Brown has joined Impact Bank as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer beginning July 31, 2017. He most recently worked as a National Bank Examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Brown’s career has focused on providing risk-based supervision strategies to community banks, including serving as Examiner-in- Charge (EIC) Assistant and Functional EIC for Corporate Governance. “Community banks are the backbone of Kansas communities. I’m thrilled to apply my experience to maintain and strengthen Impact Bank for our customers and all those who benefit from our commitment to south-central Kansas,” says Brown. Brown has a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University, where he majored in Business Administration. He and his wife, Sammie counselor at Wellington High School, are the parents of two children. Brown is a board member of the Wellington Crusader Club, volunteers as a youth baseball coach, and is active in the United Methodist Church as a youth group leader and past member of the finance committee.
