He began his banking career in 1971, working alongside his father in the bank his grandfather helped found in 1914. He will remain as Chairman of the Board. Throughout the years, Barney has been an active member of the KBA – serving in several capacities including the Federal Affairs Committee, Trust Division, and as MOKAN Director. He has been involved in numerous civic organizations and beautifica- tion projects in Northwest Kansas, and plans to enjoy his retirement in Atwood. He and his wife, Cathy, have four children and 12 grandchildren and look forward to more time travelling and making memories with their family. W.R. Robbins Inducted into the Dodge City Community College Hall of Fame Saturday, November 18th, W.R. Robbins was one of four Dodge City Community College alumni inducted into the Hall of Fame. Since 1986, Dodge City Community College has recognized 56 total alumni, faculty, and friends for their exemplary contributions to the institution as well as the community. Mr. Robbins was recognized for Outstanding Career Achievement. W.R. Robbins attended Dodge City Community College and played football for the institution. Mr. Robbins returned to Dodge City to teach after completing his Bachelor’s Degree. He later made a career change and got into the banking industry. Mr. Robbins is the CEO and Chairman of the Farmers Bank and Trust, headquartered in Great Bend, Kansas. He recently endowed the Robbins Business and Leadership Scholarship for DCCC students. KBA Chairman Visits Southwest Kansas Banks KBA Board Chairman Ron Johnson and KBA’s EVP-COO Doug Wareham embarked in mid-December on a bank visit tour in southwest Kansas. The week-long trek covered 970 miles of Kansas roadways and included stops at: The Peoples Bank, Pratt; First National Bank in Pratt, Pratt; Haviland State Bank, Haviland; Stockgrowers State Bank, Ashland; Fowler State Bank, Fowler; The Community Bank, Liberal; Citizens State Bank, Hugoton; First National Bank of Elkhart, Elkhart; Johnson State Bank, Ulysses; Grant County Bank, Ulysses; Western State Bank, Garden City; First National Bank, Cimarron; Fidelity State Bank & Trust, Dodge City; First National Bank, Spearville; SJN Bank of Kansas, St. John. They also met with bankers from; Community Bank of the Midwest, Great Bend; and The Kearney County Bank, Garden City. “This was a great experience. It provided a unique opportunity to learn about the issues facing these communities from across the local community banker’s desk. I was grateful for the warm reception we received from so many wonderful bankers and leaders of their respective communities,” shared Ron Johnson.
