Stones Public Affairs Conference. The legislative leadership panel featured Senate President Susan Wagle (R-Wichita), Ranking Minority Member of Senate Financial Institutions & Insurance Committee Senator Lynn Rogers (D-Wichita); House Speaker Representative Ron Ryckman, Jr. (R-Olathe), House Minority Leader Representative Jim Ward (D-Wichita). Bank Commissioner Miki Bowman outlined reorganization efforts at the OSBC to bring efficiencies and improve service for state chartered banks. Attorney General Derek Schmidt provided an overview of a nationwide effort by state attorneys general to prevent elder abuse. The conference also featured the graduation of the 2017 Bank Leaders of Kansas Class. Mike Pritchett (First National Bank of Hutchinson), John Engelbert (First State Bank, Norton), and KBA Chairman Ron Johnson (Community National Bank, Seneca) visit during a break. Rep. Henry Helgerson (D-Eastborough) and Scott Nelson (Carson Bank, Mulvane) connect during KBA’s Legislative Reception. Legislative Directors Will Ruder (US Senator Jerry Moran) and Dalton Henry (Congressman Roger Marshall) discuss banking reg relief legislation being considered by Congress.
