Thursday afternoon once again brought several breakout sessions for attendees to choose from. Christopher Hoyt from UMKC’s School of Law spoke on the topic of “Using Retirement Assets for Charitable Giving: Strategies, Traps, and Solutions”, while Thomas Abendroth from Schiff Hardin LLP shared his talk on “Navigating the Common Issues That Result in Trustee Liability”. Gary Zino discussed “The DaVinci Code: Leo’s Secrets to Building Your Book of Business”. Senator Jeff King and Tad Layton from Post Anderson Layton and Heffner, LLP tackled the topic of “Ethical Pitfalls in Trust Administration”. Following these breakouts, a reception sponsored by Federated was enjoyed by all. Friday morning found the participants taking in two additional general sessions. Charles “Skip” Fox of McGuire Woods LLP spoke about “Recent Developments in Estate Planning and Estate and Trust Administration”, followed by Larry Divers of Cannon Financial Institute presenting “Trends Driving the Retirement Plan Industry”.
