In Kansas Banking Congressman Ron Estes Visits with Legacy Bank Leadership Frank and Steve Suellentop (Legacy Bank, Wichita) recently invited Kansas 4th District Congressman Ron Estes and his Wichita District Director, Debbie Luper, to meet with members of the Legacy Bank staff team. The ensuing discussion covered issues ranging from regulatory burden to unfair competition from tax-privileged competitors. Frank Suellentrop, Chairman/CEO of Legacy Bank indicated that he believes the bank visit increased the Congressman’s awareness of the challenges facing today’s community banks and where Congress needs to focus to protect the important role banks play in communities across Kansas. Milne Celebrates 20 Years at KBA Becky Milne celebrated her 20th anniversary with the KBA on July 30, 2018. She was hired in a newly created position, AIB Coordinator, in the Educational Resources Department. Later she became Education Coordinator and currently serves as Vice President of Educational Resources. If you have attended any KBA events, you likely recognize her as the familiar face at the numerous education programs held throughout the state. KBA Welcomes Kelly VanZwoll The Kansas Bankers Association is proud to welcome Kelly VanZwoll as the newest addition to their staff as Government Relations and Compliance Specialist. Kelly’s tenure at KBA began on Monday, August 6. Her responsibilities include working with the Government Relations team on Kansas state legislative affairs and working with the legal staff assisting banks with regulatory compliance. Kelly graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in History and a minor in Public Policy. This past May, Kelly graduated from Washburn University School of Law. While at Washburn she interned in the KBA legal department for two years. Kelly is excited to work with the Government Relations team and to get to know the bankers as she helps with compliance issues. GSBC awarded 164 total graduates from across the nation with a diploma in banking during a ceremony on Thursday, July 26, at the Folsom Field Stadium Club on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, Colorado. White Appointed To GSBC Board Of Trustees The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC) has recently appointed Lance White, of Flint Hills Bank, Wamego, Kan. to its Board of Trustees. White has been with Bank of the Flint Hills—formerly known as First National Bank of Wamego—since 2000 when he returned home from a brief stint with Commerce Bank in Kansas City, Mo. He was named president and chief executive officer in 2009. He currently represents Kansas on the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council. “Kansas community banks are consistently some of our strongest supporters,” said GSBC President Tim Koch. “We are excited to have Lance as their representative on critical industry issues and look forward to his contributions.” White is a 2005 graduate of GSBC and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Kansas State University. Locally, he serves many civic organizations, earning him Citizen of the Year recognition in 2017. He and his wife Kara have two sons. White succeeds Kirk Bradford, board director, Citizens State Bank, Marysville, Kan. as a Kansas representative on the GSBC Board of Trustees.
