While charging the hill on behalf of Kansas bankers in Topeka has been Doug’s primary role the past 14 years, he has also served as a change agent helping lead reorganization efforts that helped foster newfound success for KBA’s Ag Bankers, Young Bankers and Trust Divisions. “What I’m most proud of is the fact that each of KBA’s Divisions are being led to new heights by others on the KBA staff team and so many dedicated Kansas bankers that are devoting time and effort to the KBA,” shares Wareham. He adds, “My biggest accomplishment with KBA’s Divisions has been recognizing when it was time to get out of others’ way and let them take charge and lead.” Doug is quick to point out that every KBA officer he’s worked with since 2004 has helped prepare him for this moment and he knows he will always have more to learn from KBA’s elected leaders. As Doug takes the helm of the KBA, he also recognizes that any success he enjoys moving forward will be completely dependent on the very talented staff team by which he will be surrounded. “Our success as an organization will always hinge on two factors: leadership direction from Kansas bankers and organized action by a highly-skilled staff team.” He adds, “It’s humbling to have the opportunity to lead the extremely dedicated and service minded group of individuals that make up the KBA staff. It’s also comforting knowing the many bankers that serve on KBA’s board and committees are 100% committed to our mission of supporting Kansas bankers to benefit the communities and customers they serve.” Change is a rare thing for the corner office at the KBA. Doug Wareham is only the seventh individual entrusted with leading KBA’s staff team since the inception of the KBA in 1887. The stability provided by the Bowmans, Stonses and Jim Maag has provided a consistent positive force for the banking industry for the past 130 years. As the KBA positions itself to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, it seems appropriate that the next flag-bearer of the KBA be a proven leader that has been mentored, trained and thoroughly prepared for this opportunity. Introducing KBA’s new positive force and President/CEO: Doug Wareham. As the KBA positions itself to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, it seems appropriate that the next flag-bearer of the KBA be a proven leader that has been mentored, trained and thoroughly prepared for this opportunity. continued from page 7 Doug is extremely grateful for the love and support he receives from Janelle and his family.
