Becky Tongish, who will be recognized for her 40th anniversary of service on the KBA staff team at the 2020 KBA Annual Meeting & CEO Forum, has been promoted to Executive Vice President — Chief Strategy Officer. Becky has been instrumental in spearheading several objectives supported by the KBA Strong 2020 Capital Campaign, and her leadership and organizational skills have proven to be invaluable during this challenging period. Brenda Unruh’s duties and leadership role at the KBA have recently expanded significantly, as she now heads KBA’s newly reorganized education department as Senior Vice President of Educational Resources and Member Services. Brenda and her team will continue KBA’s strong tradition of being the premiere source for bank training and education. Ryan McLaughlin officially assumed the reins as President of KBA Insurance, Inc. Jan. 1 and is now your primary contact for any insurance-related service provided by the KBA. Mary Taylor, who celebrated her 20th anniversary as a KBA staff member in January, has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President of Communications and Marketing and is the newest member of the KBA staff leadership team. Mary has already taken KBA’s communications and social media efforts to a higher level, and she is working tirelessly to develop an industry image campaign that will highlight the vital role played by Kansas banks. There are also two new faces in the KBA office. Meridith DeForest joined the KBA staff in early February and is supporting the entire Legal Department as an Administrative/legal assistant. Meridith comes to the KBA with front line community banking experience, as well as experience in human resources. The newest member of the KBA staff is Jenny Garcia, who is now training to fill the shoes of Becky Iams, who will be transitioning toward retirement this summer. Jenny brings a wealth of insurance experience to KBA Insurance, Inc. and will be working very closely with Ryan McLaughlin to meet your insurance needs. KBA welcomes Meridith and Jenny to Team KBA!
