Norman John Steffey

Norman was born in Topeka, KS, on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1929. He grew up on his family farm near Ozawkie, and he attended the University of Kansas. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War with the rank of Staff Sergeant with a year tour of duty in Iceland, then received a BS in Business Administration from Kansas State University. Norm started his career as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. He worked for the First State Bank of Burlingame and the Wyandotte County State Bank before purchasing the controlling interest of the Edwardsville State Bank where he served as President and CEO for 20 years. He served on several state and local banking committees during his banking career and was heavily involved in community affairs.
